Men, video games and statistics

Around 7am today when I entered the second buss I need to take to get to work I picked up a copy of the free newspaper Metro that was laying on the seat next to the one I decided to occupy.
Casually I started flipping around in it reading the odd article or two, nothing really interesting most of them was just about the recent election and just as I decided that nothing fun nor interesting had happened in the world today and was going to close the paper up and put it away this one article caught my eye.
Violent games makes you violent
As gaming is something I do I decide to read it.
It starts like this;
"Violent games does not only enhance your decision making capability. A new study shows that men who play violent games and continue to think about them become more violent."
First thought the pops into my mind is this, Only men? But I let that be for the time and read on.
The article is about an American study where half a group of guys played Guitar Hero for 20 minutes and the other half Mortal Kombat for the same amount of time. They were then to for the entire day think of ways to improve their way of playing the game, in other words the GH guys were to think how to hit more notes and the MK guys how to rip someones spine out better.
This is what the study came up with;
If you concentrate to think of how to play a game where you beat someone to death with their own head you will think more aggressively then if you think of playing the guitar...
No joke, thats what the study figured out.

LOGIC!

Of bloody coarse you will have more aggressive thoughts if you think of brutally murdering someone for an entire day! Any sensible person could have told them that.
However that does not mean the person in question WILL become more violent or suddenly start to commit more violent actions and if you can not tell the difference between the game world and the real world you should NOT be playing games in the first place.

So in the end the study came up with that if you think violent thoughts you will think more violent thoughts then if you did not think violent thoughts. Then they pulled it off as Video games WILL make you more violent.

Mark Twain said that there are three kinds of lies in the wolds;
Lies,
damned lies,
and statistics.

And its clear where this study fits in.

Mark Twain, 1 - American Studies, 0

But the real question remains, as this study only applied to men;
When females think violent thoughts, will their thoughts be more violent then if they did not think violent thoughts?
Or are their thoughts always equally violent?

I guess we wont know until another study comes out.

Leveling up

My sister once said “I’m not getting older, I’m just leveling up.”
The more you think about that the more you will realize how true it is, for what is not leveling but acquiring more experience and growing as a character. And the same is what life is, growing up is just the constant quest for learning more about yourself, others and the world ether you know it or not for even if you do not learn something new every day you will at the end of the day have more life experience then when you first woke up that morning.

If she herself fully understood the meaning of that I do not know but in the end that is not important. What is important is that one live each day as one feel and make sure to gain the skills you need and want to acquire.
Some base skills will be needed by all like general knowledge and basic understanding of the world but after you have learned what you need to in school and gained the needed base skills it is really just up to you what you will do after. Don’t ever let anyone force you into being a class you do not like.

Introductions are in order now, are they not?

I suppose I am expected to write stuff here now as well, aint I?

Guess I might as well... since I'm already here I mean...

*ahem*

Anyways, I figure you guys came here because you know me or follow me on tKBS Forum/my YouTube/my Twitter or any other place where internet stalking can be done. If you are unfortunate enough to find your way here on your own I am terribly sorry for you.

Right-o! Introduction time none the less I recon, since you're here you must have SOME interest in ether me or what I do.

Who I am and what I am called in the real world is of no matter here.
In the world online I am and have been known by many names, oldest one from my younger days of gaming being Cranow. The last few years I go under the name of Erat Arcad, a name I hold proud from the golden days of Halo 2 and 3.
However these are all names I use in the world of gaming, the “Name” I have is another one. I am known as Jack Crow, or simply Crow. Whichever one tickles your fancy.

You might wonder, “Why all the names?”, well I’ll tell you why. In the international world on the internet my name is no good, the pronunciation of it is something few wound get and I am not fond of people twisting my IRL name around.
Also it sucks.

But this is not going to be a blog about my name! Heavens no!(ß with that it might be a good time to point out I’m an Atheist) So what is this blog going to be about then?
Honestly?
No idea…
I guess it will be things like; stuff that happens in my everyday life, at work, while talking to people and just over all reflections on things.
This might not sound interesting but I have feeling it will be, a lot of things happen to you when you try balancing an real life, an online life, work, Machinima and helping out with tKBS.

A life filled with shenanigans and fun.
And so far, over all, a good life.
